Home energy costs are climbing, and some homeowners believe that there is nothing to do but pay higher utility bills. A home energy makeover is a comprehensive whole-house solution for making your home more energy efficient. The Sustainability Institute offered the CharlestonWISE Home Energy Makeover Contest to educate Charleston residents on how they can make their home more energy efficient while emphasizing the positive cash flow nature of energy retrofits.

“The contest interested us because we knew that we had obvious problems with energy efficiency in our home and we have wanted for years to correct the problems. Our utility bills were through the roof and our home was never comfortable. We didn't know what was causing the problems, or where to turn for help. We are thrilled to be the winners of the contest! We are grateful to The Sustainability Institute and all of the sponsors involved for providing us with this opportunity!”

“Liz heard about the contest on Facebook and we didn't hesitate to enter. Our energy bills were averaging over $300 a month. We are looking forward to receiving our Home Energy Makeover and reducing our energy bills, but more importantly, we are excited about the positive impacts this contest brings to our community.”
